What is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational therapy (OT) focuses on helping people with a physical, sensory, or cognitive disability be as independent as possible in all areas of their lives.
Our specialisation
At Early Learning Occupational Therapy we specialise in paediatrics and vocational rehabilitation for adults with traumatic brain injuries.
We strive to help kids with various needs to improve their cognitive, physical, sensory, and motor skills and enhance their self-esteem and sense of accomplishment. A?child’s main job is playing and learning, and occupational therapists can evaluate kids’ skills for playing, school performance, and daily activities and compare them with what is developmentally appropriate for that age group.
For adults, Early Learning Occupational Therapy specialises in the vocational rehabilitation of individuals who have experienced traumatic brain injury (TBI). A key component of the therapy is research based as this is an emerging field in South Africa. Through early intervention, many individuals with mild-moderate TBIs can successfully return to work and fulfil that component of their lives.
Our ethos and approach
At Early Learning Occupational Therapy, we take pride in understanding the unique context that ?shape the circumstances impacting on functionality and quality of life for both children and adults ?who require our service. This informs our approach to ensuring holistic and ethical healthcare and wellbeing practices.
